
The Konservatorium Wien University - the first and only university fully funded by the City of Vienna - is an accreditated Private University according to the Federal Accreditation Law. Evolved from the Conservatory of the City of Vienna, it offers a wide spectrum of academic but also practice-oriented courses in the fields of Music and Performing Arts. The range of programmes of the 12 departments, which are located right in the historical heart of Vienna, comprises of 16 Bachelor’s and 14 Master’s Degree programmes, 3 university certificate courses and preparatory courses. Close to 850 students from all over the world are enrolled in our courses of studies. Numerous successes achieved by our students in national and international competitions impressively demonstrate the high standard of education at the Konservatorium Wien University. Among our graduates famous names such as, TiII Fellner, Viktor Gernot, Elfriede Jelinek, Nicholas Ofczarek or Julian Rachlin stand for many more who became members of the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna State Opera Ballet and persue successful carears all over the world. The teaching staff of the Konservatorium Wien University is composed of renowned personalities, such as Georg Mark, Boris Kuschnir and Dorothea Hartinger. Several times a year, prominent guest professors, such as Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Laurent Aimard and Angelika Kirchschlager enrich our programmes.
Alongside its forte in training the arts, the Konservatorium Wien University has proved itself an active promoter of concerts and theatre productions boasting over 500 productions yearly. The spectrum of events spans from recitals at the institutes own premises to elaborate dance, theatre, musical and concert performances in the halls of the city’s most renowned concert houses. By enabling this kind of interaction with the public, students have the opportunity to prove themselves in an industry full of sophisticated demands. In turn, students gain valuable practical experience while establishing networks through a unique insight into the cultural scene.
